THREE ARRESTED IN BARRYMORE POOL DEATH
Three men have been arrested on suspicion of murdering Stuart Lubbock, who was found dead in TV entertainer MICHAEL BARRYMORE's pool six years ago.
Police have been investigating the death of Mr Lubbock, 31, who was found in the swimming pool of the popular entertainer at his home in Roydon, near Harlow, Essex, in March 2001.
Three men were arrested this morning on suspicion of murder and serious sexual assault by Essex Police, one in the north-east, one in the Midlands, and one in London.
The three men were aged 32, 37 and 55, according to police.
No charges were made at the time of Mr Lubbock's death despite an investigation, but a reinvestigation began in December 2006 following a campaign by Mr Lubbock's father Terry Lubbock.
His lawyer, Tony Bennett, told the BBC: "I got the call saying that three men were going to be arrested.
"That's not the same as three men going to be charged of course, but what we've been campaigning for over the past 18 months is for somebody to be charged and brought to court and brought to a trial for these alleged offences and that's the goal that we've had all along."
It is not yet known if Barrymore is among those arrested.
