THIRD GHOSTBUSTERS FILM RUMOURED

A third Ghostbusters film with Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson is in the works, according to reports from the US.

Columbia Pictures has reportedly asked the producers of the US version of The Office, Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, to come up with a script that would reunite the original cast in the third instalment.

According to Variety, no deals with the cast have been made until the script is ready.

Variety said this could be a sticking point for the production, as rumour has it the third film was attempted but dropped when so much was cash was offered to those involved, the studio had no hope of making any money.

However, the fact that the Emmy award-winning The Office team is on board is seen as a sign that the project is more likely to go ahead.

The original film, released in 1984, set box office records for Columbia. The record was only broken by Men in Black, then Spiderman.
