THERON STILL STUNNED BY SOUTH AFRICAN AIDS IGNORANCE

CHARLIZE THERON is still amazed by the lack of Aids awareness in her native South Africa, where HIV-positive men believe they'll be cured of the disease if they have sex with a young virgin.
The actress founded the Cape Town Rape Crisis Centre in 1999 in a bid to halt her homeland's Aids epidemic, but a decade later there are still people who think they can find simple cures for the killer disease.
She says, "You have huge HIV numbers and nobody is educated on how you get HIV.
"Many think if they rape a child or virgin they will will be cured of the disease... It's a problem where education and people are being naive, cultures that are very superstitious."
