THEME AT CES IN LAS VEGAS CONVERGENCE

At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, numerous manufacturers, including Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Netgear, and Sony, unveiled settop or built-in devices that allow viewers to watch video on high-definition TV sets. Some of the devices are designed to transmit video stored on home computers to the HDTV sets; others, to stream YouTube videos and "rented" movies from Netflix and other video websites directly to the sets. DISH network even showed off a hybrid Slingbox/digital recorder that can transmit shows stored on it -- or being broadcast live -- to cell phones.
