THEATRE DIRECTOR PIMLOTT DIES

Renowned British theatre director STEVEN PIMLOTT died yesterday (14FEB07), after losing his battle with lung cancer. He was 52. Pimlott worked on musicals like BOMBAY DREAMS and JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, which took him across the world from the UK to Canada, Australia and the US. He also directed HAMLET and JULIUS CAESAR for the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), and had begun rehearsals for TENNESSEE WILLIAMS' THE ROSE TATTOO, starring ZOE WANAMAKER, which was due to run from 21 March to 12 April (07). Pimlott, who was made an Officer Of The Order Of The British Empire (OBE) last month (JAN07), had suffered from lung cancer for several months, but he was thought to be in recovery. He passed away at his home near Colchester in England surrounded by close family.
