THE XX IS A TRIO AFTER GUITARIST QUITS

British band THE XX is down a member - guitarist BARIA QURESHI has quit for good.
Rumours of a split gathered pace after the rockers performed a concert in London without Qureshi last month (Oct09) and then proceeded to cancel a string of European gigs.
Now bandmember Romy Madley Croft is speaking out to confirm Qureshi's departure.
Croft tells NME.com, "Baria has left the band. I guess 'personal differences' would be the standard way to say it. I guess it's just the intensity of being on tour, things are so much heightened."
She insists the group is now a three-piece - because Qureshi has no plans to return: "Jamie (Smith, multi-instrumentalist) needs another few arms so he can work everything. Everything's going to be completely live. It's going to mean a bit of brushing up on lead pedal manuals."
