THE PROCLAIMERS HOLD ONTO TOP SPOT

Scottish rockers THE PROCLAIMERS held onto the number one spot in the UK single charts for the third week in a row with the charity re-release of their classic track I'M GONNA BE (500 MILES). The classic song has been reworked for Comic Relief and features British comedians MATT LUCAS and PETER KAY. The top three remains unchanged, with AVRIL LAVIGNE's GIRLFRIEND and GWEN STEFANI's THE SWEET ESCAPE holding the number two and three spots for the second week running respectively. In the album charts, KINGS OF LEON knocked TAKE THAT off the top spot with their new album BECAUSE OF THE TIMES. The reformed boyband are now in third place as MAXIMO PARK's OUR EARTHLY PLEASURES debuted at number two.
