THE POLICE TO HEADLINE ISLE OF WIGHT FESTIVAL
THE POLICE have announced plans to headline 2008's Isle of Wight Festival.
The newly-reformed veterans will perform on the closing night of the three-day event.
It will be the only UK festival performance for STING and the band who are currently in the middle of their comeback world tour.
Event promoter John Giddings said: "It's a coup to get THE POLICE for the festival.
"We're very pleased to have the biggest tour of the last two years stopping by the Isle of Wight."
THE POLICE, whose string of hits from the 1980s includes ROXANNE and EVETY BREATH YOU TAKE, reformed in January this year.
Recently, their reunion tour won two prizes at the Billboard Touring Awards for both top selling and top grossing tour of 2007
The three day festival runs from June 13th and will be watched by approximately 55,000 people.
Last year the event was headlined by the ROLLING STONES.
