THE POGUES classic track FAIRYTALE IN NEW YORK has been voted Britain's favourite Christmas song. The 1987 song - featuring late singer Kirsty MACColl - beat the original Band Aid single into second place. Wham's Last Christmas polled at number three while Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody - first released in 1973 - was at number four.
