THE POGUES TOP CHRISTMAS POLL
THE POGUES classic track FAIRYTALE IN NEW YORK has been voted Britain's favourite Christmas song. The 1987 song - featuring late singer Kirsty MACColl - beat the original Band Aid single into second place. Wham's Last Christmas polled at number three while Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody - first released in 1973 - was at number four. The re-recorded charity single by Band Aid 20 came fifth in the poll by music TV channel VH1. The top ten is as follows: 1. Fairytale of New York - The Pogues/ Kirsty MACColl 2.
