THE HOUSE BUNNY CLAIMS UK BOX OFFICE TOP SPOT

Anna Faris' new comedy The House Bunny has debuted at the top of the UK and Ireland box office chart.

The Happy Madison Productions film sees Faris as Shelley Darlington, a former Playboy Bunny who is kicked out of Hugh Hefner's mansion after her 27th birthday.

After finding herself as the 'house mother' of a group of socially backward college students, she helps them save their sorority house.

The House Bunny narrowly took the UK number one spot from new horror Mirrors, which took second with £834,092 after its opening weekend on release.

Family adventure City of Ember opened at number six while romantic drama Nights in Rodanthe, starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane, was unable to repeat its chart-topping US success, debuting in tenth in the UK.
