THE ELECTION GOES TO ... CNN?
CNN was among those scoring an upset victory in this week's elections, claiming the most total viewers and the most in the adults 25-54 demographic group on Wednesday, both in primetime and total day compared to the Fox News Channel, the usual news leader. As on election night, the two cable news networks effectively wound up in a dead heat for the day, with CNN averaging 1,147,000 viewers and FNC 1,142,000, according to Nielsen figures, a difference of less than 1/2 percent. However, in the demo preferred by advertisers, CNN was the clear winner with an average of 425,000 viewers versus 379,000, a 12 percent difference.
