TENOR VILLAZON PREPARING STAGE COMEBACK
Mexican opera star ROLANDO VILLAZON will return to the stage next year (10) after regaining his voice following throat surgery.
The tenor was forced to scrap all concerts for 2009 after doctors found a cyst on his vocal chords.
He underwent surgery earlier this year (09) but experts feared he would never be able to sing again.
However, Villazon has delighted fans by revealing his vocals are almost back in top form - and he's planning to make his big comeback in a few months' time.
In a video posted on his website, he says, "My voice is back. I am very happy to inform all of you that I am currently singing and I am just polishing little details to be able to come back as soon as possible next year to the stage and to sing for you."
Villazon was due to perform in three major productions in London, Paris, France, and Vienna, Austria next year, but he has bowed out of the planned showing of Carmen at the Vienna State Opera so he can ease back into his work schedule.
He explains, "I wanted to make some important decisions about my career, about repertoire and about some productions. And this is only due to the fact that I want to come back in the best situation possible.
"Very soon, I will be posting my calendar for 2010 and that will be the definitive dates I will be singing for you. I am very, very excited."
