TENOR IN TROUBLE OVER ANTI-SEMITIC SLUR

Irish tenor RONAN TYNAN has been accused of racially abusing a potential New York neighbour.
The 48-year-old amputee is a former Paralympian and member of group The Irish Tenors - but has become more famous in recent years for his performances at U.S. presidential events and his regular role singing God Bless America at New York Yankees baseball games.
But Tynan's job with the Yankees is in jeopardy after a Jewish doctor alleges he racially abused her when she viewed an apartment in his Manhattan building.
Paediatrician Dr. Gabrielle Gold-von Simson claims Tynan told the real estate agent accompanying her that "I don't care (who buys the apartment) as long as they are not Jewish" adding that a lot of "scary" Jewish ladies had previously viewed the home.
Simson complained by email to the New York Yankees who pulled Tynan from Saturday night's (17Oct09) play-off game.
Yankees spokesperson Alice MCGillion tells the New York Post, "He admitted the contents of the email were true. He said it was a bad joke. We told him that was absolutely intolerable behaviour and he needed to apologise."
Tynan told network NBC in an interview. "A lot of my friends are Jewish. It's something misfortunate. I was too stupid with my mouth."
