TENNANT BLAMES TATE FOR QUITTING RUMOURS
DOCTOR WHO star DAVID TENNANT has blamed British comedienne CATHERINE TATE for fuelling speculation he is to quit the hit sci-fi series. Tate plays the Timelord's assistant in the show, and hinted at her co-star's apparently imminent departure during a phone conversation on BBC Radio Two at the weekend (15-16Dec07) - much to Tennant's surprise. He says, "I started getting all these phone calls on Saturday lunchtime saying apparently you're leaving Doctor Who. Catherine Tate's just announced it on Radio 2 - thanks Catherine! "I said to her on Monday morning did you know you've caused a minor diplomatic incident? She was completely oblivious that the phone had been ringing off the hook." Tennant confirmed he is not leaving the show, and has signed up to four Doctor Who specials in 2009.
