TE KANAWA PULLED OUT OF CONCERT BECAUSE OF RAUNCHY FANS

LATEST: Opera singer DAME KIRI TE KANAWA pulled out of a deal to perform with Australian rocker JOHN FARNHAM because of his fans' raunchy behaviour, a court has heard. Te Kanawa was due to perform with Farnham in a series of Australian shows two years ago (05), but concert promoters Leading Edge claim she backed out after seeing the rocker's fans throw underwear at him on stage. The soprano and her ex-manager NICK GRACE are being sued for up to AUS$2 million ($1.6 million/GBP790,000) for alleged breach of contract. Australia's New South Wales Supreme Court heard that Te Kanawa watched the YOU'RE THE VOICE singer perform on DVD after agreeing to the collaboration, but found his live show "horrendous" - and cancelled despite assurances no underwear would be thrown on stage when the pair appeared together. Te Kanawa has launched her own legal action against her former manager.
