TE KANAWA CALLED TO COURT IN CONTRACT CASE
New Zealand opera legend DAME KIRI TE KANAWA stands to lose a small fortune if found guilty of pulling out of a deal to perform with Aussie rocker JOHN FARNHAM.
The singer has been called as a superstar witness in a Supreme Court trial in Sydney, Australia next week (beg29JAN07), where she stands accused of breaching a contract.
Promoters FRANK WILLIAMS and EILEEN MURPHY claim they were forced to cancel a series of concerts featuring Farnham and Te Kanawa in 2005 when the opera star decided not to perform with the YOU'RE THE VOICE singer.
The promoters claim tickets for the three Two Great Voices shows at Sydney's Domain venue were selling strongly when Te Kanawa pulled the plug on the concerts.
