TAYLOR TO PLAY APPLEGATE'S EX ON U.S. TV

DURAN DURAN hunk JOHN TAYLOR is to play breast cancer survivor CHRISTINA APPLEGATE's ex-boyfriend on her hit new TV show SAMANTHA WHO.
The British pop star, who is a longtime pal of the actress, jumped at the chance to join her on the show.
He says, "I made the decision to appear immediately."
Taylor will play an 80s pop star, called Tommy Wylder, in the upcoming episode, which will air early next year (09), and there was a career perk for the guitarist - his solo material will be featured on the show.
He tells America's TV Guide magazine, "It was cool to get to use material of my own, recordings I made for release on the Internet."
