TALENT SHOW WINNER FISHER LANDS FIRST THEATRE ACCOLADE
The wannabe who won the chance to wow London's West End in THE SOUND OF MUSIC has landed a Best Newcomer prize at the Critics' Circle Theatre Awards. The accolade is CONNIE FISHER's first honour since winning British reality TV talent show HOW DO YOU SOLVE A PROBLEM LIKE MARIA? last summer (06) and landing the lead in the SIR ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER musical. The 23-year-old singer has won rave reviews since landing the role of singing nun MARIA, and recently extended her run in the show to well into 2008. Also celebrating at the Critics' Circle Theatre Awards was movie star KATHLEEN TURNER, who landed the Best Actress prize for her performance in WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF?
