T-PAIN DEVELOPING AUTO-TUNE FOR IPHONE

Rapper T-PAIN is bringing his favourite Auto-Tune device to the mainstream - he's developing an application using the technology for the iPhone.
The Can't Believe It hitmaker is working with engineers at Antares, the company that developed the electronically-enhanced voice program, to make it available for Apple cell phone users to download.
Antares' chief operating officer Georganna Drayton says the application will "use our software and T-Pain's beats so you can make music on the iPhone".
But not everyone in the music industry is a fan of the new technology, which Kanye West used to improve his singing skills on his 808s & Heartbreak album.
Death Cab For Cutie star Ben Gibbard is calling on the Auto-Tune device to be outlawed in the studio.
He and his bandmates wore blue ribbons to the Grammy Awards on Sunday (08Feb09), to highlight their 'Auto-Tune abuse in music' campaign.
Gibbard says, "Auto-Tuning is a digital manipulation, a correction of a singer's voice that is affecting literally thousands of singers today and thousands of records that are coming out."
