SYRIANA MAKERS BACK IN COURT

LATEST: The makers of GEORGE CLOONEY oil thriller SYRIANA are being hauled back into court over continuing allegations they plagiarised the work of a French writer. STEPHANIE VERGNIAULT filed suit in a Paris court last year (06) claiming the political drama - for which Clooney picked up a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award - was based on her screenplay OVERSIGHT. Vergniault's case was dismissed on the grounds she had presented insufficient evidence and now she's trying her luck again when the suit is re-opens next month (FEB07). She says, "I am very sure of the case. "All the political sceneries of my screenplay called Oversight have been plagiarised by Warner and co. I expected those people to be more straight and honest, especially George Clooney who embodies the honest American citizen. "I never lost the (original) court case, the judge asked me to go to another court, very simply. The screenwriter is seeking 2 million euros ($2.73 million/GBP1.4 million) in damages from the makers of Syriana.
