SWAYZE IN HOSPITAL WITH PNEUMONIA
Patrick Swayze is being treated in hospital after contracting pneumonia.
The 56 year old actor, who has pancreatic cancer, had been due to appear at a meeting of the Television Critics Association in Los Angeles to discuss drama The Beast.
Robert DeBitetto, an executive of cable channel A&E, told the meeting the news.
This week, Swayze revealed in a TV interview with Barbara Walters he may survive only two years.
"Patrick has asked that I tell you that this morning he checked himself into the hospital for observation," Mr DeBitetto told Friday's meeting.
"Chemotherapy can take its toll on the immune system and illnesses are a part of that.
"Patrick wishes me to tell you that he's very sorry he cannot attend but plans to get back to promoting The Beast soon."
The star's spokeswoman, Annett Wolf, confirmed that Swayze was in hospital but would not provide further details.
Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer early last year, and last month denied US tabloid reports that he was close to death, saying he was winning the fight against cancer.

I want to say that a person living with cancer is a survivor and beating cancer
with every breath taking an living each day to the fullest. So this is winning
the battle because until your faced with a disease that comes upon you this is
unknown. Patrick is winning the battle with every breath he takes and every
moment he is with loved ones. True meaning of being a survivor is living it and
still able to breath and take each moment with us all. So if someone tells you
no more we can do. Don't give up on yourself because you can live to every
breathe and be the ones whom care. Faith, Love, And Hope are what truely matter
in this world. Live, Love and Laugh...This Voice Is Coming From A Cancer
