SUPER FURRY ANIMALS IN ANTI-FUR CAMPAIGN

SUPER FURRY ANIMALS are among the bands who have joined a campaign attempting to stop Burberry using animal fur in its products.

The campaign - organised by the Peta2 charity - is also being supported by THE WOMBATS, JAMIE T, THE COURTENEERS and FRIENDLY FIRES.

The Wombats' drummer Dan Haggis said in a statement: "There is no excuse for making money from the suffering of animals. Burberry need to stop supporting this violent industry."

A statement from Peta2 claimed that THE RAKES - who are also supporting the cause – had been approached by Burberry to feature in its latest advertising campaign.

However, the band's frontman Alan Donohoe declined in a letter, saying slaughtering animals for fashion is "indefensible".

Elsewhere, SUPER FURRY ANIMALS frontman Gruff Rhys recently revealed their forthcoming album turned out differently than they had planned.

He said the band intended to make a rock record, but it ended up as an instrumental record.
