SUPER BOWL NEARLY SOLD OUT
Nearly three months before the kickoff of Super Bowl XLIV on Feb. 7, 2010, CBS has already sold nearly 90 percent of its commercial availabilities, Advertising Age reported today (Wednesday). The trade publication quoted John Bogusz, CBS's head of sports sales, as saying that sales are pacing ahead of those for 2007, the last time CBS aired the game. Remaining spots are mostly in the fourth quarter -- an iffy time period if the game turns out to be a blowout. It's still not known whether General Motors, which had been a yearly Super Bowl advertiser until last year, when it faced extinction, will return as a sponsor this year, AdAge said. It pointed out, however, that several foreign auto manufacturers are likely to become buyers.
