STREISAND'S MOVIE WIG SELLS FOR THOUSANDS
A wig worn by superstar BARBRA STREISAND in 1970 movie musical ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER has fetched $3,500 (£2,335) in a charity auction.
The hairpiece was among 400 of Streisand's personal items which went under the hammer at the two-day sale at Julien's Auctions in Los Angeles at the weekend (17-18Oct09).
A robe the star wore in 1973 romantic drama The Way We Were sold for almost $6,000 (£4,000), while a costume she donned in Ben Stiller comedy Meet the Fockers was snapped up for $3,500 (£2,335).
The auction also included several items of furniture from Streisand's own estate, such as a Stickley china cabinet, which went for $15,000 (£10,000).
Profits from the sale have been donated to her Streisand Foundation, which gives grants to various good causes.
