STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO TO RETURN

MICHAEL DOUGLAS' hit 1970s cop show THE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO is returning to the small screen.
Douglas found fame on the show, playing Inspector Steve Keller opposite veteran actor Karl Malden, from 1972 to 1976.
The new version of the show will be given a contemporary touch.
Writer Sheldon Turner tells the Hollywood Reporter, "The times are very similar - it was the Vietnam War in the 1970s and the Iraq War now.
"There is the same sort of tension between generations, and we wanted to carry that to the new series."
And the new cop partners will be modelled on presidential candidates John MCCain and Barack Obama.
Turner adds, "One, like Obama, wants to be active and believes in rehabilitation, while the other one, like MCCain, doesn't quite believe in rehabilitation and believes that the enemy is the enemy."
