Stewart Plans To Make Green 'Sexy'
Former EURYTHMICS star DAVE STEWART wants to make concern about global warming "sexy" with his new record label Greenpeace Works.
The British musician hopes the label, which is a collaboration between his multi-media company Weapons Of Mass Entertainment and environmental group Greenpeace, will inspire people to embrace a green lifestyle.
However, Stewart is also determined for Greenpeace Works to become a financial success.
He says, "It's bloody exciting and celebratory to do good things for the environment. It's sexy and I want to make it sexy. I don't want it to be a granola-cruncher, tree-hugger type of thing.
"We're working on a business that would help people socially, politically, consciously."
Greenpeace's Mark Warford adds, "But it's not just a home for protest songs. It's about people who are committed to social issues but are also being artistic and getting the word out without any restrictions."
Stewart will perform a live version of Go Green, a song featuring his Eurythmics partner ANNIE LENNOX, BONNIE RAITT, JEFF BECK and NATALIE IMBRUGLIA, alongside NADIRAH X and Chinese pop stars in front of 100,000 people in China next month (May07).
