STEWART BACKS BUSKING CHARITY DRIVE

ROD STEWART has called on musicians to perform on the streets of Britain and raise money for a cancer charity.
The Maggie May hitmaker kicked off his career in the 1960s by singing on the streets of France.
The 64 year old is now patron of Busking Cancer 2009, which raises money for Cancer Research U.K. - and he's encouraging other artists to perform in the open air for the charity.
He says, "When it comes to busking, I'm your man. That's how I started in the early sixties on the streets of Paris. It's what music is all about - just getting out there and singing or playing for the sheer joy of it.
"And if you can earn a few quid (pounds) for Cancer Research U.K. - a few quid that might just help to save someone's life - what could be better?"
