STERN TAKES THE STAND AT ANNA NICOLE'S SON'S DEATH INQUEST

LATEST: ANNA NICOLE SMITH's lawyer and companion HOWARD K. STERN was surprised to learn her son DANIEL had died of a drugs overdose, he told an inquest into the 20-year-old's death on Tuesday (18Mar08). Stern testified at an inquest hearing in the Bahamas that he never suspected Daniel was abusing drugs and that there were no signs suggesting the tragic 20-year-old was on medication when he died in 2006. Stern, who also denied reports he gave Daniel Methadone, was the last witness at the ongoing Nassau inquest. The attorney's testimony contradicted that given by Larry Birkhead, the father of Anna Nicole's baby daughter Dannielynn, who on Monday (17Mar08) told the hearing Daniel took drugs and stole Methadone from his mother, and that he was taken to a Los Angeles hospital for misuse of valium in July 2006. Daniel died from a suspected drug overdose three days after his mother gave birth to Dannielynn in September 2006. Anna Nicole passed away from an accidental overdose in Florida six months later in February 2007.
