Soul singer CANDI STATON has credited flamboyant music producer DAVID GEST for transforming his estranged wife LIZA MINNELLI into an attractive woman. Staton, best known for her 1976 hit song YOUNG HEARTS RUN FREE, claims before Gest came along, Minnelli was unfit and grossly overweight. She tells British magazine New!, "She was fat when she met him and he helped her lose 100lbs. "He put her on a diet and tried to stop her drinking." Gest is currently appearing on British reality TV show I'M A CELEBRITY... GET ME OUT OF HERE!
