STARS LINE UP FOR BOWIE'S ART + MUSIC FESTIVAL

Canadian rockers the ARCADE FIRE, AIR, the POLYPHONIC SPREE and DEERHOOF are the first acts confirmed for the inaugural High Line Festival, which will be curated by DAVID BOWIE. Bowie agreed to select and book acts for the 10-day event, which will be held at venues near a public park created on top of an abandoned elevated railway line in Manhattan, New York. Bowie admits he's thrilled that all the acts he approached to play at his festival, agreed. In a posting on his website, he writes, "Although this inaugural year will be modest in scale we've been pretty lucky in that many whom I asked have accepted. "I'm also pleased that many emerging artists are participating alongside more established talents that represent a fairly wide cross section of disciplines within the arts community." The H+M-sponsored festival will also feature a show by EXTRAS and THE OFFICE creator RICKY GERVAIS and performance art spectaculars. Bowie will also screen his favourite Spanish-language films at the High Line Festival, which begins on 19 May (07).
