STARS FAIL IN COPYRIGHT EXTENSION BID
Musicians including JETHRO TULL and SIR CLIFF RICHARD have lost their battle to persuade the British government to extend the copyright on sound recordings beyond the present 50 years. The stars had wanted copyright to last 95 years, arguing that the current system will unfairly disrupt a source of income for many songwriters approaching, or in, their retirement years. However, following an independent review the length of copyright will remain at 50 years.
