SQUIRE ART BLOCKS ROSES 'REUNION'

Former STONE ROSES guitarist JOHN SQUIRE has cast doubt on rumours the British band is set to reform by lining up a series of exhibitions to showcase his art.
The Fools Gold hitmakers were said to be planning a live comeback at festivals in the U.K. this summer (09).
But Squire has announced four exhibitions of his paintings spread across the year, with a spokesman for the shows insisting the rocker has no plans to return to music.
The first show will open in London on Thursday (20Jan09), and the spokesman says, "This is all John does really nowadays. The Stone Roses is very much a past life for him now. He has made a very good career out of painting."
The Stone Roses, whose self-titled debut album was voted the greatest British record of all time by rock magazine NME, split in 1996 after Squire quit.
