SPRINGSTEEN PAYS TRIBUTE TO GIANTS STADIUM

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN paid a tribute to New Jersey's Giants Stadium as he launched a five-night stint at the soon-to-be demolished sports mecca on Wednesday (30Sep09) - by playing a new song he'd written about the place.
The Boss kicked off the show by telling fans he was glad to be in his "back yard" and dedicated the concert to the "old lady", referring to the venue.
"We've had a lot of great nights here."
He then belted out new tune Wrecking Ball, which began, "I was raised outta steel here in the swamps of Jersey some misty years ago/Through the mud and the beer and the blood and cheers, I’ve seen champions come and go."
The famous stadium will be closed and demolished in 2010.
