SPRINGSTEEN: 'I DIDN'T KNOW I WAS UP FOR A GRAMMY'

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN only found out about his recent Grammy win when he read the results in a newspaper the following day.
The star was awarded the Best Rock Song trophy at the ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday (08Feb09) for his track Girls In Their Summer Clothes.
But Springsteen insists he did not know he was nominated for the prize - and only discovered his win when he was catching up on current events after the awards had taken place.
He says, "I didn't even know I was up for a Grammy! I opened the newspaper on Monday and saw that I had won, and thought, 'Well, that's great!'"
The award is Springsteen's 19th gramophone gong.
