SPRINGSTEEN AND E STREET BAND TO TAKE HIATUS

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN and his E STREET BAND are eyeing a hiatus after their current tour wraps up in November (09).
The veteran rocker, who hits the landmark age of 60 on Wednesday (23Sep09), is expected to take at least a year to himself while the members of his band work on solo projects following the end of their ongoing North American trek.
Guitarist Steven Van Zandt told reporters on Wednesday (16Sep09), "We are gonna take, I don't know how long - a year, year and a half, two years off. Up to now we've been working a lot, and it's great.
"This is a good time to see us. We may not be as pretty, (but) we seem to be getting better in funny ways. You never know. This could be the last tour. We do every show like it's our last show anyway."
The announcement backs up speculation Springsteen plans to quit touring with the E Street Band, after he announced earlier this year (09) that his next project will not include the group.
Springsteen and the band have been on the road regularly since kicking off their Magic tour in October 2007, and had just a few months off before heading out again for their Working On A Dream jaunt in March (09).
