SPRINGER SLAMS SOLDIERS' TREATMENT

TV legend JERRY SPRINGER has blasted his fellow Americans over their "criminal" lack of support for war veterans.
The star is convinced young school-leavers often sign up for military service because they cannot find any other suitable job.
And he is disgusted that after tours of duty in the warzones of Iraq and Afghanistan, returning soldiers are not "looked after" by their fellow citizens in the U.S.
He says, "The whole society should (look after them). It's a crime. We send young people off to fight. In many cases - not all - but in many cases, certainly in America, a lot of young men and women are going over to fight because that's the job they can get in a bad economy.
"And so they get right out of high school, they can't find a job, and they join the military. All of a sudden they are at war. So you take these people - we don't want to hear about the war, we don't even want the funerals that are televised. We just turn our back to the whole thing.
"And now they come back, they have made the ultimate sacrifice, and we don't even help these people. It's criminal."
