SPIELBERG PULLS RABBIT OUT OF THE HAT
Harvey, the imaginary rabbit in the eponymous Jimmy Stewart classic, will return in a remake to be directed by Steven Spielberg. Surprisingly, the movie will become a co-production not between Spielberg's DreamWorks and Disney -- which agreed to distribute DreamWorks films last February -- but between DreamWorks and 20th Century Fox. Initial reports indicated that Disney may still wind up distributing Harvey, although no mention of a distribution deal for the movie was made in the original announcement. Fox, whose chairman, Tom Rothman, reportedly brought the idea for the remake to Spielberg, will put up half the money for the movie; DreamWorks, through its deal with India's Reliance, will put up the other half. No mention was made about who will play the Jimmy Stewart role, although speculation immediately centered on Tom Hanks.

If it ain't broke...
This is a bad idea. Not every movie ever made needs to be remade. Those that
have never enjoyed an old black and white movie will never see one, they will
only know the new one. Harvey is a classic and no one, not even Tom Hanks,
could pull it off better than Jimmy Stewart.
It's a sad day when Hollywood cannot come up with new movies or a new idea.
With all the books out there, they are unable to make a movie from a new idea.
It's Hollywood being lazy and quick to make money by the only means of remaking
an old movie.
It's a shame and one I will never spend money to watch. I hate remakes because
I love the originals. It's like new movie stars grabbing the tails of older
stars and making money from their hard work.
I'm surprised the old Blondie movies have not been remade since it's still a
comic.
Get off the comic books and old movies and come up with a new idea once in a
while. How quickly the mind forgets the money that can be made from new books
that are out there.
