SPIDER-MAN MUSICAL BOSSES SLAM AXE RUMOURS

SPIDER-MAN musical bosses have blasted rumours the forthcoming Broadway extravaganza has been scrapped - insisting the show will debut next year (09), as soon as "cash flow issues have been resolved".
This week it was revealed the show, which will star Evan Rachel Wood and feature music written by U2, had been put on hold for financial reasons.
The news prompted rumours on Wednesday (12Aug09) that the cast and crew had been released from their contracts and the whole musical axed.
New York Post columnist Michael Riedel wrote, "Now comes word that the actors have been released from their contracts, with no incentive (i.e., money) to hang around waiting for the production to get back on track."
But a spokesperson for the production has reassured WENN the show will go on as planned: "Hello Entertainment is aware of the speculation about the future of Spider-Man on Broadway and is re-confirming that the plan is to resume production shortly and preview on February 25th, 2010 at the Hilton Theatre when cash flow issues have been resolved."
