SPICE GIRLS 'RECORDING NEW SINGLE'

Two ex-Spice Girls have been spotted leaving a record producer's home, prompting claims the band is re-forming to release a new single.

The manufactured band dominated the UK singles charts in the late 1990s with their brand of girl power and short skirts. Now they are looking forward to following in Take That's footsteps for renewed chart success, the News of the World newspaper reports.

Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton – both of whom have had chart success following the original split of the Spice Girls in 2001 – were snapped leaving the home of their old record producer, Richard Stannard, in Brighton.

The newspaper reported they were so excited by the prospect of an assault on the charts come this Christmas that they were "jumping up and down, giggling and hugging each other".

Mel C is also thought to have been at the session while Victoria Beckham and Mel Brown – who has recently captured the headlines because of her ongoing paternity row with Eddie Murphy – are expected to attend at a later date.

Reports of a reunion have been around for a while. After apparently ending for good last autumn when Victoria appeared to rule out a comeback, the rumour mill began again in earnest this month with suggestions that 'Posh Spice' might relent if the group were based in Los Angeles, her soon-to-be home.
