SPICE GIRLS CUT WORLD TOUR

The Spice Girls have blamed "family and personal commitments" for their decision to end their reunion world tour earlier than planned.

The tour will now end in Toronto on February 26th, with concerts planned for Sydney, Beijing, Cape Town and Buenos Aires to be cancelled, according to a statement from the group.

A statement on the band's website confirmed the cancellation, adding: "Sadly, the tour needs to come to an end by the end of February due to family and personal commitments for Emma, Geri, Mel B, Melanie C and Victoria."

"We've had such an amazing time over the past three months. It's been incredible being back together and seeing our fans again.

"We want to thank everyone who came to see us. It was all so mad the first time round, so we've really been able to appreciate it properly this time."

The statement added: "Really sorry if we didn't get to see you this time round."

The four shows had been originally planned for January but were rescheduled to accommodate extra shows at London's O2 Arena.

Though it had been reported that ticket sales in the four cities had been slower originally anticipated, the Girl Power group have attributed the cancellation to more positive causes.

"Due to the phenomenal demand for tickets in the UK and the US, along with the touring logistics for such a massive production, it was not possible to fit everything in," the message read.

It is believed the group's 17-night stint at the O2 earned the five-piece over £11 million.

The reunion concerts have seen Geri Halliwell performing with the group for the first time since she quit the band in 1998.
