SPEARS ON COURSE FOR HER FIFTH U.S. NUMBER ONE ALBUM
BRITNEY SPEARS is on course to claim her fifth number one album in America as her CIRCUS threatens to limit KANYE WEST's reign on the Billboard chart to just a week.
Countdown experts predict Spears' sixth studio album will match last week's sales of West's 808s + Heartbreak, which debuted at number one on Wednesday (03Dec08), shifting 450,000 records.
Spears' comeback album sold 219,000 copies in its first day on release, which fell on the pop star's 27th birthday (02Dec08).
If strong sales continue and the Toxic singer does rocket to the top of the U.S. album chart next week (10Dec08), she'll join the likes of Barbra Streisand, Madonna and Janet Jackson among the ladies who have scored more than four number ones.
