SPEARS' MUM HITS BACK AT LUTFI

BRITNEY SPEARS' mother LYNNE has fired the latest shot in the ongoing court battle between the family and Spears' former manager SAM LUTFI - insisting her comments he is a "fake" and a "predator" are protected by the U.S. Constitution.
Lutfi filed suit against the Toxic hitmaker and her parents in February (09) accusing them of defamation, libel, battery, breach of contract, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
He alleges comments Lynne Spears made in court - and later repeated in her book Through The Storm - subjected him to public ridicule.
But Britney's mother has now hit back - she filed a new motion on Monday (15Jun09) insisting her words are covered by the U.S. Constitution's First Amendment, which protects freedom of speech.
She contends her comments - including allegations Lutfi is a "Svengali", a "fake", and a "predator" - are "mere statements of opinion" made in court as Spears attempted to get a restraining order against her former manager, according to Access Hollywood.
And she denies repeating the allegations in her book could have damaged Lutfi further - because sales of the tome were "relatively unsuccessful".
