SPEARS' EX AUDITIONS ON AMERICAN IDOL

A pop wannabe, who briefly dated BRITNEY SPEARS, is a contestant on the current series of reality TV contest AMERICAN IDOL. Robbie Carrico romanced the troubled pop superstar in 1999 when he was a member of band Boyz N Girlz United, and the pair even stepped out as a couple at the 1999 premiere of movie Drive Me Crazy. On Wednesday's (30Jan08) edition of American Idol, Carrico successfully auditioned in front of judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul in Miami, Florida. He is now through to the next round of the show, after Cowell ruled his performance of Lynyrd Skynyrd's Simple Man "quite good".
