SPARKS STARS' FURY AT RECORD BAN

Cult 1970s rockers SPARKS were enraged to learn the BBC had banned their new track DICK AROUND - especially as they were appearing on a BBC London radio show when they first discovered the snub. Brothers RON and RUSSELL MAEL threatened to walk out of JONO COLEMAN's breakfast show when they realised the DJ was not allowed to play the song they were promoting. But although they were persuaded to stay, they are still furious at the broadcast giants' "childish" motives. He says, "The BBC has officially killed off our single ostensibly through rather childish objections to the title, an innocent reference to the idle life. "It's an insult to us and the listeners of the BBC."
