SPAMALOT BREAKS RECORDS IN WASHINGTON

Hit musical SPAMALOT has shattered box office records at Washington DC's National Theatre after selling out all five weeks of its run at the venue. The comedy musical, the brainchild of former MONTY PYTHON regular ERIC IDLE, beat the previous one-week box office record, held by LES MISERABLES, in its first week at the National last month (begs06JUN06). The stage show has gone on to beat its own record every successive week of its run. Spamalot's receipts totalled $1.14 million (GBP633,000) for its final week at the theatre last week (ends09JUL06).
