SONGWRITER LINDE DIES
Singer/songwriter DENNIS LINDE, who wrote songs for ELVIS PRESLEY, GARTH BROOKS and the DIXIE CHICKS, has died. He was 63.
Linde died on Friday (22DEC06) at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, after battling idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a lung disease.
Linde penned BURNING LOVE for Presley, CALLIN' BATON ROUGE for Brooks and GOODBYE EARL for the DIXIE CHICKS.
He also wrote songs for ALAN JACKSON, MARK CHESTNUTT and SAMMY KERSHAW after he had his own career as a recording artist.
He was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2001 and was named songwriter of the year by the Nashville Songwriters Association in 1993 and BMI in 1994.
