SNOW PATROL COVER OASIS HITS DURING STAND-IN FESTIVAL SET

British rockers SNOW PATROL ensured they pleased OASIS fans after taking over the group's cancelled headlining slot at U.K. music festival V - by covering the band's greatest hits.
Oasis were slated to close the three-day music event in Chelmsford, England on Sunday (23Aug09), which was set to be their last performance in the U.K. this year (09).
However, the band was forced to pull out after frontman Liam Gallagher lost his voice following his performance at the Staffordshire leg of the outdoor event on Saturday (22Aug09).
Second headliners Snow Patrol were promoted to the prestigious position of closing the annual event.
But they made sure the Oasis fanbase was catered for - by singing the group's classic hits Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova to the thrilled crowd.
And it seems frontman Gary Lightbody was happy with the reaction from fans, telling the revellers, "Already you're one of the best crowds we've ever played to. It's a dark, dark time but we'll try to shed some light on it."
