SMITHS STAR PAYS TRIBUTE TO MUSICAL INSPIRATION
THE SMITHS drummer MIKE JOYCE has paid tribute to British musician JOHNNY ROADHOUSE, who died at the weekend (11Apr09).
Roadhouse, who lost a short battle with illness on Saturday at the age of 88, played saxophone for the likes of Sir Elton John, before setting up his own music store in The Smiths' native Manchester, England.
And Joyce has hailed Roadhouse as an icon and inspiration for musicians and music fans alike.
He tells NME.com, "Music shops come and go, but Johnny Roadhouse stays. It's synonymous with Manchester music."
