SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE STILL NUMBER ONE AT UK BOX OFFICE

Golden Globe winner Slumdog Millionaire has held the number one spot at the UK box office for a second week.

Danny Boyle's Mumbai-set film - up for ten awards at the upcoming Oscars - has taken £14.2 million since it opened last month.

The Pathe film took £2.3 million in its third weekend on release to easily retain the UK top spot, with world war two drama Valkyrie remaining in second.

Sam Mendes' Revolutionary Road, which reunites Titanic stars Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, debuted at three with horror film My Bloody Valentine 3D falling one place to fourth.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, a number one movie in the US, was the next-highest new entry, entering in tenth.

Despite its US success, the Sony Pictures film - which stars young actors Michael Cera and Kat Dennings - received a comparatively small release in the UK.
