SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE REIGNS AT UK BOX OFFICE
British Oscar hopeful Slumdog Millionaire has continued its domination of the UK box office by holding off the challenge of Tom Cruise's Valkyrie.
The Mumbai-set drama about an orphan appearing on the Hindi version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? made £2.8 million in its third week of release, up £0.2 million on its week two takings.
Nazi assassination thriller Valkyrie could only manage £1.8 million as it opened in second.
Vampire/werewolf prequel Underworld: Rise of the Lycans debuted at five, while Frost/Nixon came in a disappointing ninth.
Slumdog Millionaire is up for ten Academy awards at next month's ceremony including best picture and best director for Danny Boyle.
